Grade: 11th & 12th
Teacher Name: Sarah Grover and Jodie Deinhammer (CHS Anatomy Team)
Description and purpose of grant: We are asking for medical application supplies to utilize in various labs to help prepare our anatomy students for their careers in the health science field. This will provide hands-on experience which will propel our students forward and give them real life practice before heading off to college or trade schools in the future. This correlates to all our various standards such as conducting laboratory investigations, using science and medical equipment to collect data, and more.
Implementation process: This grant will support anatomy students for years to come!! Many of the items on our list should last us quite a few years meaning we can continue to expand our curriculum to use the new devices in different ways. We plan to utilize the new equipment right away for various labs. For example, when we get to our Cardiovascular unit we will conduct various investigations using the blood pressure monitors and pulse ox / heart rate monitors. Not only will all anatomy students learn how to use this equipment but they will collect, analyze, and communication conclusions based of data they collect using them. This will create well rounded science students and future medical professionals. This grant will impact the 200+ current anatomy students, but will last for years and could end up impacting thousands.
Items you plan to purchase with grant money:
Bold items = highest priority
All the items listed above will allow us to complete fun, hands on investigations while giving our learners real-life practice with certain pieces of medical monitoring equipment.
In the event my grant is not fully funded, this is minimum amount I would need to get started on this project: We would need $2,400 to get started with our high priority items.
It is an honor to support the Staff and Students of Coppell High School
