We are requesting funding to purchase materials to build twelve raised garden beds and a garden shed on our school grounds and to pave the way for other outdoor learning spaces to be added in the future. Groundworks and SouthDakota Ag in the Classroom have helped our Garden Club obtain grow lights to begin growing microgreens and eventually start plants for our garden beds. The teaching gardens will provide a living laboratory for students to learn and grow. We will supplement our curriculum in all areas to inspire students to learn science, language, creativity, art, engineering, math and so much more. Students, with the help of teachers, parents and community members, will plan the space for the garden, determine how many gardens we can support and what we will plant, as well as build the beds, plant the seeds, nurture and harvest the plants and prepare the beds for another year.
