Creating self-regulation opportunities for students Pre-K through Fifth grades. Starter kits will be given to classroom teachers that have self-regulation tools students can easily use in the classroom.
Purpose and Rationale: To provide students with manipulatives and tools that can be used for self-regulation skills within their classroom. This purpose relates to district goals by providing support and encouragement of the academic, social, and emotional growth of learners.
Strategy: Implementation will occur by classroom teachers. The teachers and school counselor will demonstrate how to properly use the calm down kit and the manipulatives and tools within it during classroom meetings and or guidance. The students will understand that the kit is used for self-regulation breaks in order to be able to refocus and be successful in their school day. 570 students at Denton Creek Elementary will have access to the calm down kit within their classroom and will be able to participate in using it as needed throughout the day.
External Resources: None applicable
