Teacher Name: Bianca Benitez
Description and purpose of grant: Part of our AP Biology curriculum is to explore cellular respiration and photosynthesis. Both of those metabolic processes can't occur without enzymes. We utilize lab investigations to learn about all of them, while measuring carbon dioxide that is released. These sensors will allow multiple classes to explore these concepts concurrently.
Implementation process: These probes will be usable year after year and will allow multiple classes of 30 students each to investigate enzymatic action as it relates to cellular respiration and photosynthesis. With the quantity we're asking for, two (2) AP Biology classes can run investigations at the same time. This will help support our growing AP Biology program.
Items you plan to purchase with grant money We will purchase 14 Pasco wireless carbon dioxide gas sensors that attach to our iPads via Bluetooth.
In the event my grant is not fully funded, this is minimum amount I would need to get started on this project: $1,500
Wishing the students all the best
