Chandler Unified School District Art Masterpiece Gift Fund in Memory of Karen Clark

Karen Clark was instrumental in beginning the Art Masterpiece Program in Chandler School District at Shumway Elementary School in the early 1990's.  She truly loved promoting the District's Art Masterpiece Program.  In fact, artwork created by District students is regularly on display in the Governing Board room and in the Karen Clark Art Gallery at the District Office.  The gallery was dedicated in honor of Karen, recognizing her for her passion toward providing Chandler School District students with a rich visual arts experience as well as her service and commitment to the District.

Karen served on the Chandler Unified School District Governing Board from January 1997 through December 2008 and was Board president in 1999, 2000, and 2008.

What is Art Masterpiece?

Your contributions in memory of Karen Clark will benefit the District's Art Masterpiece program.  This is an enrichment program where volunteers use reproductions of fine works of art to promote art literacy in children. Art is an integral part of life and the Art Masterpiece Program is a chance to stimulate the students' thought, perception and imagination. In the end, students attain a greater awareness of the world around them. Volunteers called "Art Guides" bring prints to the classroom and present a lesson and art activity planned for a particular grade level.
