Grade: 5th
Teacher Name: Ashley Rhodes
Description and purpose of grant: Differentiated Math Centers offer various activities and tools designed to enhance students' grasp of essential math concepts. With a three tier design, content for each learning goal is accessible and effectively meets the needs of diverse students. Differentiated Math Center kits come ready to use and include hands-on materials for differentiation and variety. By incorporating Differentiated Math Centers into our learning experiences, students will actively deepen their understanding of key math skills.
Implementation process: Differentiated Math Centers will be seemlessly fit into our lesson design at Austin Elementary. To ensure all teachers are confident utilizing the resource, I will provide an after school professional learning session where teachers will explore the resource, trial the activities, and plan vertically on how to most effectively fit the centers into their math block. This professional learning is tentatively scheduled for mid-February, depending on the speed of delivery. Following teacher prep, all students at Austin Elementary will have access to this effective resource. This year there are approximately 500 students who will experience Differentiated Math Centers, but there will be a lasting impact as future students will also benefit from these learning experiences.
