Description and purpose of grant: 

The CHS Library makerspace will foster innovation, lifelong learning and in-demand skills such as flexibility, collaboration and productivity.  It will provide students the opportunity to adapt to failure during the experimentation, testing, evaluating and modifying of their creative work outside of a traditional classroom.  The makerspace experiences will empower students with diverse skills for future employment and higher education opportunities.

Implementation process:

With the addition of a makerspace, students will have access to powerful design thinking and learning before and after school, during lunch and in collaboration with their other classes.  The makerspace will be housed on the top level of the CHS library, immediately visible when students enter or pass by the library.    

CHS Librarians will evaluate the makerspace on an ongoing basis by considering the popularity, challenges, and overall function of the makerspace as well specific aspects related to time of day or type of supply.  

Items you plan to purchase with grant money: Funds raised will purchase materials allowing for experiences including, but not limited to: weaving, painting, knitting, jewelry making, green screen filming, photography with light boxes, and general tinkering along with storage for ready access in this flexible learning space.

In the event my grant is not fully funded, this is minimum amount I would need to get started on this project:  $2000.00
