Description and purpose of grant: Family STEAM Night and Beyond! Families will have an engaging, hands-on evening working through STEAM focused stations that will also help students visualize themselves in STEAM-related careers. This grant will fund the non-consumable materials to be used on STEAM night and in the STEAM classroom for lesson extensions, for years to come. Families can learn about the technology used in medical careers, physics, entomology, engineering, robotics and more. Families will also create models of real world objects with art supplies. This project will showcase innovative and meaningful learning experiences that will support the development of scientific exploration, reasoning skills, content and conceptual knowledge, and artistic expression. It also reflects how CISD values collective engagement that positively impacts the lives of our children and our world.
Implementation process: The funds, if granted, will provide multiple stations and activities to extend learning, promote inquiry and career investigation, and showcase CISD's new elementary STEAM education. We expect more than 200 families to participate in this engagement event.
