Austin High School, AISD, and the Austin running community have partnered to raise funds to resurface and renovate the Austin High track and field. This initiative is a public/private partnership called “Back the Track,” and we are looking for businesses, runners, parents, and other community members to contribute to this great cause.
Austin High School is located in the heart of Austin, Texas, adjacent to the iconic Lady Bird Lake and the Roy and Ann Butler Hike and Bike Trail. Open to the public, hundreds of runners, athletes, and students in our community enjoy the use of the Austin High track on a daily basis. The track is truly Austin’s fitness hub.
Given its significant community usage, the track’s surface is in very poor condition and is unsafe for student and community athletes alike. Led by an Austin High parent, we have built a volunteer coalition of community members and local businesses working with Austin High and AISD to support the track’s renovation. With contributions from these individuals and organizations, we have already engaged an architect to begin the design process. We will need additional funds over time to complete the design process and ultimately pay for construction.
