Our names are David Garcia, Justin Rusthoven and Charlie Kuykendall and we are a part of Austin High School within the Academy for Global Studies. While researching education in Austin and around the world, we found that special education programs within our school and other schools around Austin were underfunded.  For this reason, we decided to reach out to Cowan Elementary to raise money for items that they are in need of to help their students get the most of their education. Special Education departments need to use the relatively small amount of funding they receive to provide the most basic resources for students with some of the highest needs. The wishlist provided by the teachers is specifically tailored to the needs of the students to help them stay focused and increase access to their education.
