Special Spaces is a nonprofit organization that creates dream bedroom makeovers for children with cancer. This national organization was started by one mom doing one room in Knoxville, TN. As the passion for the mission evolved, her grassroots team grew. Special Spaces now spans across 14 states with over 50 volunteer directors who have helped create over 1,300 dream bedroom makeovers. 200 or those dream bedrooms were right here in Illinois.
With the child as the main designer and Pinterest board in tow, we design, plan and create their unique space. Your generosity makes their wildest dreams come true… a Star Wars room, Lego room, princess room, we can do that. Your donations help them spend time not thinking about their next chemo, or their stem cell transplant or their next 8 days in the hospital, but to dream of their new bedroom lovingly built and tailor made just for them. And we make that all happen in just one day. Changing children’s Lives - One Child. One room. One Day at a time. FHS will be sponsoring two rooms for two different children living in the Palatine area. With the money we raise, FHS will have two teams, Team Jeremias (3 yrs. old) and Team Angel (8 yrs. old), working on November 6th to makeover two different bedrooms. Please help us bring Jeremias and Angel's bedroom dreams to reality.
Any money raised above our initial goal, will be applied to our next bedroom remodel in the Spring.
I'm a cancer survivor.
I am lucky enough to have Jerry as my student since he started at CLA! He is an incredible little boy who has battled so much in his life and isn’t even 4 yet! Go Team Jeremias and Team Angel!
I teach at CLA where Jerry attends preschool.
A special place for a very special boy!
