Description and purpose of grant: I am requesting funds so that I can purchase class sets of graphic novels in order to teach the newly approved English 4: Graphic Novels course at New Tech. These class sets will be implemented in this class, as well as other English and Social Studies classes that wish to use them for whole class/group reading practices. Additionally, without a dedicated library at New Tech, I am also trying to expand my shared graphic novel collection to include some popular titles that students have been requesting.

Implementation process: Upon purchasing, these books will be added to my classroom library, although any student and teacher may access them as mentioned above. The books selected as class sets were previously approved when I designed this course for CHS and align with that curriculum. My selections cover a wide range of topics and genres, including: poetry, classic literature, fiction, and non-fiction. It's worth mentioning that these genres are all required to be studied through our English TEKS, but also have applications in a number of other courses, including core content and AP courses.

In the event my grant is not fully funded, this is minimum amount I would need to get started on this project:  $1712.04 would fund all of the class sets without the additional selections for independent reading.
