Fire Damages Only Playscape at Winn Elementary
The playscape at Winn Elementary was destroyed by a fire on August 1, 2017. Damage to the structure was so intensive that the structure and surrounding area has been deemed unsafe and is currently fenced off from the community.
How You Can Help
In an effort to continue to offer opportunities for outdoor play, Winn is asking for community support to rebuild the playscape and purchase equipment such as jump ropes, soccer balls and bean bag games to encourage student activity during outdoor play despite the lack of a play structure.
The longterm goal is to transform and improve the schools' outdoor space by building a new playscape and adding additional age-appropriate play structures. Funds raised for the campaign will help rebuild, improve and expand the options for outdoor play at Winn Elementary. Your investment today will support student outdoor play, provide opportunities for social development and improve the physical and emotional well-being of our students.

Playground at Wynn Elementary
It is absolutely terrible someone would do this to a school playground right before school starts. My two children start kindergarten this year, I can't imagine how they would feel seeing this as their playground. I pray you get enough to get it fixed ASAP.
Children need play time and safe play equipment.
I am an Austin ISD employee, and am giving to support the learning community at Winn Elementary School. Good luck with this effort!
Once upon a time I subbed a day or two at Winn ES, I have now been a certified teacher 12 years and can't imagine my kids (students and my actual kid) not having a safe outdoor place to play in. The kids in this neighborhood deserve a play area they can take pride in.
