The Student Council at Sun Valley High School strives to make a huge impact in our surrounding community. We work hard to give back to the Sun Valley community through various events such as Trunk or Treat, Victory Junction, Homecoming week and the most important: Children’s Holiday Party (CHP). This is the largest Student Council event of the year and involves extensive planning and fundraising.
At its core, CHP is the way Student Council gives back to the Sun Valley community for the holidays by raising $20,000 through local Spirit Nights, business donations, and classroom collections. This money is then divided among 15-20 different less privileged children in the SV elementary school cluster (Shiloh Valley Primary and Elementary Schools, Rocky River Elementary School, and Indian Trail Elementary School) and their families. Student Council members review the requests that are completed by the families and work to fulfill as many requests as possible. We also began a virtual Angel Tree last year that fulfilled one amazing gift for every family member. Altogether, participating children and their families receive new clothing toys, household needs, and food raised in partnership with clubs throughout our school. Student Council members deliver their family’s gifts at an agreed upon time on a designated day right before the holidays.
In order to continue this program, we need your help. If you could provide the Sun Valley Student Council with any sort of monetary donation we would be able to give back even more to the children and families we are serving. We would love to advertise your sponsorship by placing your logo on the back of our CHP shirt. With times being even tougher due to the pandemic, we are relying even more on the community to help us serve our families. This year, Student Council’s motto is “Stronger Together”-we need you to help us achieve this goal!
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide to our Council and the community.
