Each year, Sun Valley High School, under the leadership of the Student Council, joins together to raise $20,000 to support 20 families from our community. This is a tradition that spans more than 40 years and inspires our students to become leaders in community service. These families are chosen by the administration at our elementary feeder schools. Counselors look for families who may be struggling a little more than others. Children are chosen from kindergarten through second grade and families are only allowed to receive this service once.
This year we welcomed a student to the Student Council who was a past CHP recipient. They have been very open with sharing how much this event meant to their family in a time of financial need. We hope you will help us to reach more families and make a lasting impression on the community. Supporting our community is a primary objective of the Student Council and Sun Valley.
Students raise this money from many different sources. They conduct events such as Holidays in the Valley where families are invited to the school to participate in a special Holiday Celebration for a donation of $5. This year Holidays in the Valley will be held in the high school cafeteria on December 2nd from 10 am-1 pm. There will be crafts, games, food, and Santa Claus! Everyone in the community is invited to join us!
They conduct Student-Staff athletic contests! This year there will be a basketball competition! Students donate $3 to get out of class to watch the final competition! Championship game 12/
They host movie nights where for a $5 donation, students will receive a drink and popcorn and get to watch holiday movie in the Spartan Center.
They will host a Talent Show this year on 12/15/23.
They ask for donations from the community and the student body! This is where you come in!!! By donating any amount, you help to guarantee a family in need gets what they need this holiday season!
On behalf of the Student Council and Sun Valley High School, thank you for your donation, and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
